Tour Historic Zion Chapel of Ease Cemetery On Friday, June 10 at 10:00am or 2:00pm.  See the site of the first church on the island, the militia muster house, and the planters’ cemetery.  Here the story of the oldest existing structure on the island, the Baynard mausoleum, burial site of the William Baynard, the owner of the Stoney-Baynard plantation house in modern-day Sea Pines.

This site is owned and maintained by the Heritage Library. Tours are $12 per adult; $7 for children ages 7-12; no children under 7, please.  Call the Heritage Library at 843-686-6560. Beaufort Humanities Festival attendees free.

The cemetery is located at the corner of Mathews Drive and William Hilton Parkway, across from Carrabba’s.  Enter from Mathews Drive.

The Heritage Library is a nonprofit history and ancestry research center with low-fee services open to the public at 852 William Hilton Parkway (second floor; parking and entrance in back).
