Working under the direction of Library curators and specialists in various divisions, Fellows explore digital initiatives and increase access to the institution’s unparalleled collections and resources. Fellows are exposed to a broad spectrum of library work: copyright, preservation, reference, access, and information technology. Students applicants will rank their top three projects choices from a list of 26 projects. If selected, students will either work 1:1 with their Project Mentor or be placed on a small team and collaborate with one or two other Junior Fellows in addition to their Project Mentor.

The 2016 Junior Fellows program will take place from May 31st 2016 to August 5th 2016 (fellows must be present for the entirety of the program). Fellows are paid a $300 weekly, non-taxable stipend during this 10-week program. The Library’s stipend is meant to defray the cost of housing, food, travel, and other expenses. The program offers Fellows a transportation subsidy for the duration of their internship in addition to the Fellows’ regular stipend. Adjustments to Library Schedules in 2016

December 10, 2015

BCL_Logo_Blue_Brown   BDC New Logo_SQUARE FOR FB

The BDC Research Room will operate according to new hours beginning January 2, 2016. Now that Ashley is here to help, we are adding 8 public service hours a week overall.  We will open earlier as well, to give our customers the added benefit of not having to pay for the meters from 9 am to 11 am (since it looks like the City of Beaufort is going to approve adjustment of meter hours to 11 am to 7 pm daily). Beginning January 2nd, the new hours of the Research Room are:

  • Beaufort District Collection
Mondays 9 am to 5 pm
Thursdays 9 am to 5 pm
Fridays 9 am to 3 pm
Please note that access to the Research Room on Tuesdays and Wednesdays will remain by advance appointment only.

We are closing at 3 pm on Fridays simply because Beaufort Branch is closing at 3 pm and that staff is responsible for shutting down the building.

Additional details about the decision and hours at the branch libraries.
