Archaeology Month Events in October

“The Yamasee War” is the theme for Archaeology Month 2015.

Saturday, Oct. 3rd from 11am- 3 pm ASSC/Beaufort and Beaufort District Collection-Beaufort County Library-311 Scott St., Beaufort, will be hosting the 3rd Annual What the HECK is IT? Artifact Identification Program. Dr. Jon Leader and Dr. Eric Poplin will be examining artifacts.

The ASSC/Hilton Head group will host “What the Heck?” on Saturday, October 17, 1-4 pm at the Coastal Discovery Museum, also with Drs. Leader and Poplin.

The ASSC/Hilton Head group has its monthly meeting on October 20, with Karen Smith of SCIAA scheduled to talk about Ft. Frederick. 1 pm at the Coastal Discovery Museum.

Although the Arkhaois Film Festival isn’t eligible for membership in our little confederation, it will be showing 17 documentaries, including several of local archaeological investigations, October 22 – 24. http://www.arkhaiosfilmfestival.org/
