Last Call for Ossabaw

Last Chance to sign up for the Ossabaw Island Connoisseur Trip!

Join a small group of adventurers in exploring private Ossabaw Island with the Historic Beaufort Foundation.  Only four additional people will be accepted for the overnight tour on March 3-4, 2015.

Ossabaw Island is the third largest of Georgia’s Sea Islands and lies along the Atlantic Ocean about 20 miles south of Savannah. The island encompasses over 16,000 acres of tidal marshes and 9,000 acres of high ground. Ponds, salt water creeks, one river and many sloughs, inlets, and beaches make the high ground of Ossabaw a complex of small islands.

Ossabaw Island has been designated a “Heritage Preserve” by the state of Georgia and is not open to public so this is a wonderful opportunity to explore this historic island!

The tour will depart by private boat from Delegal Marina on Skidaway Island, Georgia at 10:00 a.m. for the 20 minute ride to Ossabaw.  The group will stroll around the Old Morrell Plantation house area and then tour the North End plantation by truck.  After a box lunch on the beach, the group will explore Middle Place, the 1700s era site.  Supper will be served at the Clubhouse.

Accommodations in the clubhouse are dormitory style.

On Wednesday, March 4th, after breakfast at the Clubhouse, there will be time to tour the tabby slave cabins and stroll to the gates of the Torry Mansion, followed by departure by boat back to Delegal Marina.

Historic Beaufort Foundation members – $250 per person

non-members – $300 per person
