First Call for Film Registration issued

Hilton Head Island —   The Arkhaios Film Festival is pleased to announce the 3rd Annual Arkhaios Cultural Heritage and Archaeology Film Festival will take place at Coligny Theater on Hilton Head, SC, USA on October 22-24, 2015.

The first call for film registration has been issued. Filmmakers will find the Rules and Regulations along with the Registration Form on the Arkhaios Film Festival website. The film registration deadline is June 15, 2015.

Jean Guilleux, Arkhaios founder and director, is pleased the Coastal Discovery Museum at Historic Honey Horn, Hilton Head, SC, and the South Carolina Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology (SCIAA) at the University of South Carolina are renewing their commitment to the Arkhaios Film Festival.

“Within several hours of the first call for films, we received news of submissions from Australia and Brazil. If this is any indication, we’ll have many more film makers join us this year.  Our jury is poised to screen more films representing more cultures and countries. Moreover, we are planning  several additional activities as we enter our 3rd season, made possible through the support of Coastal Discovery Museum and SCIAA” said the Festival Director.

The Arkhaios Cultural Heritage and Archaeology Film Festival is an annual event, part of South Carolina Archaeology Month.  It is free, open to the public and is intended to be an educational event showcasing the discovery of past cultures gained from archaeological research and illustrated by documentary films.

      * It is also to encourage initiatives and exchanges between the different actors, producers and directors of the world of cultural heritage and archaeological films.

      * Finally, it is t o spur the interest of filmmakers to apply their art to the heritage of South Carolina.
