to host discussion on Beaufort Marina Project

Plans to redevelop the     Beaufort Downtown Marina parking lot will the topic of discussion at a     Leadership Beaufort Alumni Association forum March 20.
A social period will     begin at 5:30 p.m. at Holiday Inn Beaufort, and an hour-long,     moderated panel discussion will follow at 6 p.m. Confirmed     panelists include Maxine Lutz of the Historic Beaufort Foundation, Alan     Decovitz of the Beaufort Redevelopment Commission and LaNelle Fabian of     Main Street Beaufort, USA.
Representatives of     Historic Marina Partners LLC and the Beaufort County Open Land Trust also     have been invited to participate. Historic Marina Partners were chosen by     the Redevelopment Commission and Beaufort City Council to plan a makeover     of the lot off Bay Street and adjacent to Henry C. Chambers Waterfront     Park. Company principals Jim Chaffin and Steve Navarro are working on a     draft of a plan that will be presented soon to residents, business owners     and city officials. A final proposal for City Council’s consideration is     due in May, according to an agreement between the developers and the     Redevelopment Commission.

There is no cost to attend the forum, which is     open to the public.
