JR moved with his parents to Hilton Head in 1956, a few months before the bridge was built in 1956. His vision of life in our community was inherited from his father, J. Norris Richardson, who was named a “Founding Father” by the town of Hilton Head Island, and Charles Fraser, his mentor. As a young student of development, JR was immersed in the strategy of good development. Saving trees, designing buildings that enhance the beauty of the natural surroundings and creating neighborhoods that come alive, are part of his long record of successful endeavors.

Mr. Richardson is Chairman and CEO of the Richardson Group whose holdings include Coligny Plaza, Windmill Harbour Company, the South Carolina Yacht Club, Windmill Harbour Real Estate and Westbury Realty. He has served as a member of Coastal South Bank Share’s Board of Directors since 2003, and as a member of Coastal State Bank’s Board of Directors since 2004.

For the talk, call the Heritage Library at 843-686-6560 or Coastal Discovery Museum at 689-6767, ext. 223, or register online at www.coastaldiscovery.org.
