BDC Programs @ the Library

2014 is going to be the “Year of the Archives” so the total number of BDC@ The Branches program offerings is begin scaled back from the monumental programming effort related to the “Civil War 150” traveling exhibit.  Since the BDC only has to do 5 programs a year to satisfy the Library system’s Strategic Plan goals, what topics should we focus upon?  To determine what folks prefer, BDC staff conducted an informal survey of beloved BDC customers and branch library staff who strongly suggested that we concentrate on genealogy related programs within the system.  It’s hard to do with only 2 staff members and 35 hours of desk duty a week, but we’re going to try.  During these two sessions, we will share information about genealogy based services and resources within the Library system and those on the open web that will help folks get started on their family histories.  First out the gate is a session at Bluffton Branch Library:

In February, Grace will do a similar class at the St. Helena Branch Library using African-American examples in honor of Black History Month.

In April, we’re hitting heavy on preservation during “Preservation Week 2014.”

With our cutback on inside-the-library-system programs, we would entertain co-sponsorships of programs within the BCHRC.  Give me a call to discuss possibilities:  255-6446.
