Angel Oak Fellowship on Johns Island, SC in the Gullah/Geechee Nation

The Gullah/Geechee Sea Island Coalition ( has been a part of the efforts to save the Angel Oak on Johns Island, SC in the Gullah/Geechee Nation for several years.  They are now working with the Lowcountry Open Land Trust to raise $3.6 million to create the Angel Oak Preserve on 17 acres of property surrounding the tree.   Contributions to this effort have already been made by numerous individuals, businesses, and governmental entities and there is a November 21, 2013 deadline to reach the goal.  So, donates continue to be collected at:
