The Beaufort History Museum Seeks Volunteer Docents

5-­Week Training Program to Begin Sept. 19

The Beaufort History Museum is recruiting the 2013 class of volunteer docents to lead tours and serve as community liaisons.

Docent training classes will be held in two sessions from 10 a.m to 12 p.m. or 2 p.m. to 4   p.m. from Sept. 19 through Oct. 17. Docents may choose to attend classes at either session.  Makeup classes will be offered Oct. 10 and Oct. 17 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. All sessions will be held at City Hall, 1911Boundary Street, Beaufort, SouthCarolina.

The training curriculum will cover all aspects of history relating to Beaufort and will provide docents with knowledge of the museum’s collections, history and mission.

Once docents have completed the training process, they will be asked to serve approximately four shifts per month. Docents are asked to commit to a one–‐year period of service to the museum.
