Gen. Elliott, BVA HBF Dinner & a Lecture Series


A special lecture entitled “Undaunted Valor: Stephen Elliott and the Beaufort Volunteer Artillery” and gallery tour of a new permanent exhibit at the Verdier House, The Beaufort Volunteer Artillery: Guardians of the Lowcountry Since 1776, will be held Monday, September 26th as part of HBF’s Dinner & A Lecture series. The event will begin at 5:30 pm in the Verdier House, 801 Bay Street, downtown Beaufort.

Ron Roth, curator of the exhibit, will speak about the BVA which was called to fight in the American Revolution, the war of 1812, the Civil war, World Wars I and II.  Few military units in the history of the United States have served this country longer and with more distinction than the Beaufort Volunteer Artillery.  This exhibition provides highlights of its history, beginning with the American Revolution, using artifacts owned by HBF, the Beaufort Museum and the Confederate Relic Room in Columbia.  Mr. Roth’s talk will also focus on Stephen Elliott and his direct involvement with the BVA.  Fee.  For details or reservations call Historic Beaufort Foundation, 379-3331.
