Heritage Library announces September events

 The Heritage Library, located in the Savannah Bank Building at 852 William Hilton Pkwy. on Hilton Head Island, has announced the following
events scheduled for the month of September. To attend any of these events, call 686-6560.Authors’ appearances 

At 1:30 p.m. Sept. 8, Steve Hoffius & Dr. Larry Rowland, editors of “The Civil War in South Carolina: Selections from the South Carolina Historical Magazine,” will discuss and sign copies of their book. Call 686-6560 for reservations. No charge; a $5 donation is suggested.

At 1:30 p.m. Sept. 25, Dwayne Pickett, coauthor of “The European Struggle to Settle North America” will discuss his book and sign copies at a reception in honor of William Hilton Day. Call 686-6560 for reservations. No charge; a $5 donation is suggested.

Fall lecture series begins At 1:30 p.m. Sept. 27, Bill Altstaetter will present a lecture on “The Pre-Columbia Low Country and the Lost Century.” A complete schedule of the fall lecture series is available at www.heritagelib.org. The fee to attend is $10 an individual or $15 a couple for non-members.  For members, the fee is $8 an individual, $12 a couple.

Fall class season begins From 1:30-3 p.m. Sept. 28, Nancy Burke will lead the first of a two-part program titled “Starting Family Research,” with the second session scheduled for Oct. 5. The fee to attend is $5 for non-members, $40 for members. To view the complete fall class schedule, visit www.heritagelib.org.

Open house From 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 30, the Heritage Library will waive the daily research fee for non-members in honor of William Hilton Day. Short history talks on selected genealogical and historical subjects will also mark the occasion.
