Thomas Heyward Lecture Series Announced

The Bluffton Historical Preservation Society, Inc. invites the public to attend their 2011 Thomas Heyward Lecture series.  Lectures are held in the Bluffton Branch Library, 120 Palmetto Way, from 11:00am – 12:00pm. Lectures are open to the public with a $3 suggested donation.  *Feel free to bring your neighbors and friends.  Light Refreshments will be served.

Four lectures are planned: 

  • Saturday, October 15th 2011  “Northern Money, Southern Land”  booksigning and discussion with co-authors   Steven Hoffius and Robert Cuthbert
  • Saturday, October 22nd 2011 “Bound for Canaan: the Underground Railroad and the Quest for Freedom” presented by SC Humanities Council speaker Ron Roth 
  • Saturday, October 29th 2011 “Wonders of the Beaufort District Collection” Librarian and Archivist Grace Cordial will present an overview of BDC services, highlighting materials about Bluffton and Hilton Head Island
  • Saturday, November 5th 2011  Joseph McGill, Jr., Program Officer from the Southern Office of the National Trust for Historic Preservation presents the 2010-11 Slave Dwelling Project”
