HBF Announces Upcoming Programs


Evening lecture series continues through June at Verdier House with university scholars expert in their fields

The successful series of lectures now being held at the Verdier House will continue through June with programs each of the next three months provided by university professors who are experts in their fields.

On April 26thThe Sweetgrass Basket Community: The Baskets, The People, The Landscape” will be presented by Clemson University professor of landscape architecture Cari Goetcheus.  

On May 24th Lafayette scholar and College of Charleston history professor, Dr. Robert Crout, talking about his studies related to the Marquis de Lafayette who reportedly visited the Verdier House in 1825.  

Coming June 21, the third Monday of the month, Dr. Carl Lounsbury, leading architectural historian at the Colonial Williamburg Foundation and professor at the College of William & Mary, will present a program based on his study of colonial houses of worship, Laying the Cornerstone of New Zion: The Early Churches & Meeting Houses of America.
