MayDay
This is an extract from the Lyrasis listserv: Each year, archives, libraries, museums, and historic preservation organizations set aside May 1 to participate in MayDay, an initiative to protect cultural heritage from disasters. Lyrasis Preservation Services invites everyone to participate by doing One Thing for Emergency Preparedness. You could:
* Look over your disaster plan, see what needs to be updated, and update it!
* Invite your local emergency responders to tour your institution and offer their safety tips!
* Join forces with other local cultural institutions and talk about helping each other out during a disaster!
* Register for a disaster planning or preparedness class! (Call Heather South, SCDAH, to see if there is still room for you at the “Disaster Recovery Workshop” being held on Wednesday, April 29th. (803) 896-6112).
