Yesterday, representatives of Beaufort County Library, Historic Beaufort Foundation, Historic Bluffton Preservation Society, Parris Island Museum, and Penn Center were among the 18 participants at the SC State Historical Records Advisory Board workshop “Basic Archives: Arrangement and Description,” led by Jeanette Bergeron, Archivist, James Crumley Archives, Columbia and Heather South, Preservation Officer, South Carolina Department of Archives and History. After the workshop, Heather told me how happy they were with the turn-out and arrangements at Penn. Things are looking good for Beaufort to be the site of future archival training workshops.
